Aechmea are beautiful flowering plants from the Bromeliad family, commonly known as the Urn Plant due to it's arching leaves in the shape of an Urn. With an exotic pink flowering bract, small blue flowers and tough, leathery, silver and green foliage, they make for a stunning indoor plant. They can be used outdoors, however they should only receive bright indirect sunlight as direct sunlight can damage the leaves. It's important to keep the 'central vase' topped up with water; however, if left for too long the water can stagnate, so it's a good idea to empty and replace the water each month or so.
