Hen and Chicken Ferns (Asplenium bulbiferum) are hardy, native ferns, occurring naturally in Australia and New Zealand. They are perfect for a moist-shady spot in the garden, under a canopy or even as a houseplant in a well-lit position.

Their leathery fronds can reach up to a metre and will produce spores and small plantlets, making them an extremely easy plant to propagate.

While they can handle some cold, they will not tolerate frost, so should be brought inside or planted in a protected position in the garden.
